Landsat 8 Data Products
Landsat 8 data products are consistent with the all standard Level-1 data products created using Landsat 1 to Landsat 7 data
Landsat 8 Pre-WRS-2 Data Products
The Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS Pre-WRS-2 data set contains nearly 10,000 scenes acquired by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) and/or Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) sensors after launch (February 11, 2013) through April 10, 2013, when the satellite achieved operational orbit (WRS-2). The earliest images are TIRS data only. These data are also visible and can be downloaded using GloVis or EarthExplorer.
Landsat 8 was developed as a collaboration between NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). NASA led the design, construction, launch, and on-orbit calibration phases, during which time the satellite was called the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM). On May 30, 2013, USGS took over routine operations and the satellite became Landsat 8. USGS leads post-launch calibration activities, satellite operations, data product generation, and data archiving at the Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) center.

Steps to get the Landsat Data
2) Go to the second step: “Search Criteria” tab in the upper left to specify an area of interest.
3) Click the “Data Sets” tab next. From the long list that appears, select “Landsat Archive” and check the box for the first item: “L8 OLI/TIRS.”
4) Click the “Results” tab to peruse the available images. Then click on the image thumbnails to see larger image previews in false color, which you can evaluate for cloud cover and geographic coverage. Scrolling down the image previews reveals additional metadata.
